Recovering Prevenient Grace - 1/24/2021
Greetings in His Holy Name,
This week we continue our journey to recovering God's Grace in our lives based on the work of Pastor Steven Martyn.
We must remember that God's Grace is Prevenient. This means that His Grace comes before. Before our sin. Before our salvation. Before the next moment.
We have God's Grace freely given to us. We don't deserve it. We cannot earn it. He has already given us everything we need to move into the next moment of our lives. He gave us a conscience. His Grace allows us to receive and respond to His love. We have a longing in our heart for Him that nothing else can fill. He promises us a Savior.
We must trust these gifts of grace. Even when we don't fully understand the plan, these gifts of Prevenient Grace will guide our hearts.
Adam and Eve were created with a heart perfectly aligned with God. When they sinned, they chose their own plan over God's plan and this created an imbalance. They chose to chase happiness for themselves instead of happiness in being a part of the greatest plan ever known, the Perfect Will of The Father.
Regaining balance is not easy. In fact the ups and downs of each day are part of that challenge, but remembering that God knows exactly what we will face and has given us everything we need to continue in relationship with Him gives us confidence to face the day.
