The importance of Christian unity.

Magic or Bird? This was great NBA debate during the 80's and it was the locker room debates after gym class when I was growing up.  The arguments quoted stats, championships and never came to an agreement.  These types of debates were fun and still are hap[en at the water coolers and in the locker rooms today.

Our world has taken this type of disagreement to unhealthy levels and quantities.  Unfortunately, it has also found its way into the church in the past and the present.  The world today makes it very difficult to find peace in debate.  The rules of civil discourse seem to have been lost.  Finding common ground, almost impossible.

Despite these challenges, Christians should have hope.  Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ came for all people to be saved.  God's grace goes beyond our understanding.  For all our knowledge, debate and arguing we always fall short in our ability to understand God's plans. It is in Jesus that we can find peace amidst the chaos.  Jesus is the anchor of truth.  Jesus is the vine that we grow from and provides us the strength and confidence to stand strong against the enemy.

Remember that in Christian community we should find unity.  We are called to support, encourage, mentor and at times correct one another, because we love as God loves us.  We put aside differences to seek God's will.  It doesn't mean that we won't disagree, but in love, and unity in Jesus, we lay down our desires for God's.  Coming together, in unity, is one of the best testimonies we can show to a world that is so divided.

Continue to be the light in the world, as individuals, and as a community of believers.

Your brother in Christ,

Pastor Jeremy
