We are beginning a Sermon Series that focuses on types of prayer.  The framework of the messages is based on the book by Stormie Omartian.  To understand prayer we must put our focus on our hearts and the condition of our soul.
To begin the series we look at prayers of confession.  Every human being is born into this world with a sin nature, and we are born into a fallen creation.  The importance of confessing our sins to God is for our benefit.  Whenever sin is left unconfessed, it becomes lodged in our hearts and begins to fester and damage our entire being.  This unresolved sin can also be used by the Devil, to trick, confuse, self-defeat and paralyze us.
Confession is the first step to the healing process.  Much like AA, you must admit that you have a problem before you can begin the process of change.  In our relationship with God, it is not good enough to simply be considered a "good person".  God desires repentant hearts that yearn to be with Him.  He is ready to begin the healing work in you for the sin that you have committed against Him.  Remember, the smallest miss to dead center of God's will is considered a sin.
Today is a great day to confess that sin that has been plaguing you and causing you pain.  It is also a great day to pray to God for the sin you have committed that you do not even know you did.
1 Corinthians 4:4, "My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent.  It is the Lord who judges me."  Regardless of how we might feel, a sensitive heart to our actions and words keep us seeking God's forgiveness and presence.  It is important to remember that God's love for us is greater than any sin.

Trust in His loving Grace today, so you will have life tomorrow!
