Testimony...of the Resurrection

Here is this weeks sermon:

This week we examined Jesus appearing to the disciples, and particularly to Thomas.  Jesus appearing among the disciples, in a locked room no less, was the fulfillment of his promise to rise from the dead and to join them.  This cemented the truth of who Jesus was, the Son of God.  Now the disciples had everything they needed to go forth with confidence into the world to proclaim the Gospel.

Have you ever been told important information that you just had to confirm for yourself.  No matter how much you trust the person giving you the information you just had to check on it with your own senses, because the results were just too important.  I think we have all been in that situation at one time or another.

I think many people give Thomas a bad rap.  Jesus never scolds or admonishes him, but rather comes to him so that he may believe.  This was far too important a thing for Thomas to take lightly.  After all, he saw his Savior die.  Only to see, hear and touch for himself would he be able to believe.  When Jesus came to him, he fell to his knees and worshiped Him.

This is what made the disciples testimony so strong.  They had no fear of going into the world because they knew Jesus was the Son of God.  They witnessed boldly to the people, both Jew and Gentile, with the leading of the Holy Spirit.

People are waiting to hear the Good News that you have in you.  Your testimony of a real relationship with God, through Jesus Christ.  Go share it boldly.

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Jeremy
