Salvation Comes...through the name of Jesus.

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people! If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.   Acts 4: 8-10

After Peter's healing of the lame beggar outside the Beautiful Gate, he and John were brought in front of the high priest and other religious leaders and were asked this question, "By what power or by what name did you do this (heal the lame beggar)?" It is in this moment that Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit responds. By the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

I want you to consider the situation that Peter and John found themselves in. Simply healing a lame beggar found them in trouble with the temple leaders. Sometimes following Jesus can put you in some uncomfortable situations. The good news is that we can stand strong on the power that is the name Jesus. Jesus who died for our sins, and conquered the grave; claiming victory over death. This is the power that Peter claimed in healing the lame beggar and standing before the high priest, and it is this power that is available to us.

Look for opportunities to share the good news with those you encounter this week. Love them in the name of Jesus Christ. It may save someone's life.
