UPDATE: HERBST UMC Covid 19 situation.

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
I pray that this message finds you well; physically, emotionally and most important spiritually.   With this in mind I want to provide the following updates.

  • Worship and other gatheringsThe suspension of worship time on Sunday mornings has been extended through April 26th.  This will of course be evaluated as time goes on.
  • Spiritual development:  Please take this time to devote hearts and minds to God.  God gave us prayer as a means of grace, so that through prayer we can draw closer to Him and be shaped through the Holy Spirit.  Prayer is also our best weapon against evil in this world.  May I encourage you to call one another and pray together.  There is great power in prayer!
  • From the Finance Team:  During this time of isolation, the church needs to understand how and when money is coming in, so that we can meet our obligations and help one another and the community as needed.  Please consider reaching out to Pastor Jeremy, Max Middlesworth or Belinda Walker with regards to your tithe schedule, or any need you may have.  You can mail your tithes to the church office (2561 S. 600 W. Marion IN 46953) or you can mail or drop off your tithes to Financial Secretary Belinda Walker (6503 W. 200 S. Swayzee, IN 46986)  As the Church, let us continue to support local missions and our community through prayer and generosity.
  • Evangelism:  Please check our blog page, or Youtube channel for the weekly message. Consider those people who may need to hear good news found in Jesus Christ and share the link so others may be encouraged by the truth found in our Savior.
  • United Methodist Mountain Mission:  The pick-up for the Mountain Mission will happen (as of now) is scheduled for April 27-29.  A couple of urgent needs are:  Children's Summer clothes, Men's Summer Clothes, Men's shoes, socks & underwear, good pots and pans, good used furniture.

It is during these extraordinary times that we are reminded how little control we have in this world.   As we search for some stability, I am reminded of Jesus comments found in Mark 12, when comparing the giving from the rich, and the poor woman who gave two small copper coins.  Jesus said to his disciples, "For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on."  In these trying times, God is offering an opportunity to reevaluate, repent and redirect our lives.  God desires for us to return to him, fully and completely, with all of our being. To place our trust in Him alone, just as the poor woman demonstrated.  Let us give thanks to God for his perfect unconditional love and faithfulness for His children.

May the Lord bless your health and your hearts,
Pastor Jeremy
