UPDATE: Herbst UMC Covid 19 4/29/2020

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus the Christ!

It is safe to say that every individual has a differing and unique opinion with regards to the situation we face, the severity of the threat, the national/state response and the overall impact this is having on the nation.  To be fair, there are still far more questions than answers at this point.  So at this time, I want to provide an update regarding the possibilities of resuming worship.
  • Bishop Trimble has set an expectation that United Methodist churches not reopen prior to May 17th.  Therefore, we will continue with our on-line worship format for the next couple of Sundays.  Our date for resuming is not set in stone and will be guided by the ongoing situation and information that is provided by state, medical, and our own church leadership.
  • When services resume you need to be prepared that things will be different.  Right now, the church leadership is examining, and prayerfully considering, exactly how we will reconvene.  There are a great deal of things we must consider to provide a safe place for worship.  We must be mindful of all of our brothers and sisters, as well as new guests that may be seeking the Lord.  Regardless of how we do things, I encourage you to come with an open heart and mind to worship with God.  I will provide an update in the coming weeks to share how we will be conducting our morning worship time.
I want to encourage you to continue in prayer and worship with God.  Use this time to be with Him and listen for what He has to say.  Avoid getting caught up in the weeds of life, because they will choke out your ability to see and hear what God is trying to say to you. I am praying for you and what God is calling us as a congregation to be ready for.  We all have a part in God's story.  Let's make that the priority.

May the peace and love of God be with you,

Pastor Jeremy
