November 17, 2019 Find a Desolate Place

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Below is the link to our Sunday message from Nov. 17, Find a Desolate Place.

As we approach Thanksgiving and the Advent Season, the demands on our time from others, and ourselves, can become overwhelming.  This can cause us tremendous stress during a time of year that should be filled with thanksgiving and praise.
Let us be reminded that Jesus calls us to take time for rest with Him.  It is this time alone, away from distraction, with God that can provide the rest and rejuvenation we need in stressful times.  More importantly, God calls us to be in relationship with Him.  To be in a relationship with anyone requires spending time with them and giving them the attention they deserve.  How can we give our heavenly Father any less?
In Mark 6, Jesus commands the disciples to go with him to a desolate place and rest.  Even though work could still be done, good work, it is necessary for us to rest with God.  In the Greek, desolate can also be translated as solitude.  Jesus message is that we need to be away from all distractions so that we can be fully present with God.  This time allows for the Holy Spirit to fill our spiritual reservoir.  The quiet allows for us to hear the soft whispers of the Spirit.

Remember, when things seem busiest, that is probably the very time you need to escape away to be with God.  He will provide your path and the strength to walk it!

In the love of Christ,
Pastor Jeremy
