An apple a day, keeps the doctor away.  One of many different saying that we learn in our culture to remind us of what to do in order to be successful, healthy or safe.  In this case, the benefit of eating healthy will help to keep us from becoming sick and needing to see a doctor.

Our health also includes our spiritual life.  It is far to easy to be distracted or consumed by what we see and hear in the world.  The only true way to maintain our spiritual health is by being disciplined in prayer and study.  It is something that we tend to neglect in the hustle and bustle of each day and week.  However, it is vial to maintaining a healthy and growing relationship with God.

In the present world we live in, the daily time of prayer and study is the protection we need from the unhealthy, dangerous and misleading circumstances of life.  Our prayers allow us to lift up our praise and concerns to God.  They offer us an ability to listen for God's will and divine presence which provides guidance for how we will handle each situation.  Study of Scripture helps to build the solid foundation to keep us anchored on God's promises.  That foundation helps us to sift through what is true and what is a lie.

So, as you consider and build healthy routines in your life make sure not to neglect your spiritual health.  Establish time to be with God.  Your health and life depend on it.
