From Milk to Maturity - 4/11/2021
Greetings in the name of our Risen Lord,
For several weeks we have been discussing the basic essentials of faith, "The Milk". This week we begin to transition the discussion. This week, the message, From Milk to Maturity, begins with the focus on a verse that will be central for our discussions from now through Advent.
The verse, 2 Peter 1: 3-15, shows us a pathway to maturity with building blocks that will supplement our faith. These things: virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection and love, are steps along our path to spiritual maturity that complete or enhance the quality of our faith.
We must remember that the world is trying to target all that is good and perfect about God. Being Christian, a true follower of Jesus Christ, is striving to be more Christ-like in the world in which we live. It is not trying to make Christ to be more like us.
The first building block is virtue or moral excellence displayed to enrich life. We can contrast qualities of virtue with our sinful nature. In the next several weeks we will discuss aspects of virtue in more detail.
No matter where you may be on the path to spiritual maturity, know that there is always work to do. There is always one more step, one more surrender, one more repentance that is designed to bring us into a deeper relationship with Our Creator through Jesus Christ guided by The Holy Spirit.
We look forward to the next several weeks as we study the building block of virtue on our path to spiritual maturity.
