Deck the Halls 12/13/2020

Greetings in the name of our most precious Jesus, the Christ!

The third Sunday of Advent marks a time of Proclamation and Joy.  We have a Light to shine in the darkness and Hope to share with the nations.  We remember the call of John the Baptist, who was sent to prepare the way for the Lord.  He did this by shouting in the darkness.  His joy was sharing the fact that he was not the one, but the one that is to come, he is not worthy to untie his sandals.  This is significant, because in the culture of that time, the job of untying sandals and washing the feet of guests was that of a slave.  So the implication is that we are so unworthy of this amazing gift God sent to us in Jesus.

Stop!  Look at it from the other direction.  Jesus is so awesome and magnificent.  He is unending love.  He is everlasting life.  Jesus has come so that we can be restored to worthiness.  The birth of Jesus is a signal of hope.  When the hour seems darkest, that darkness is cast out by the light of Christ.

Let your light shine forth this and every season!

Here is our Sunday sermon, Deck the Halls.  May the Lord bless you.
