UPDATE: Herbst UMC Covid19

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus the Christ, our Lord and Savior!
I want to share with you some information from our leadership discussion last Sunday with regards to our worship plans.  The covid19 virus is still a problem.  We must be thoughtful and prayerful in how we come together in worship so that all people can feel safe.  With that in mind, the board has made the following decisions.  (things are subject to change as circumstances dictate.)

  • Sunday Worship.  We will continue to worship in the fellowship hall for at least the next two weeks. (6/21 & 6/28)  The board decided that with a spike in covid19 cases occurring in numerous states, our current success with worship in the fellowship hall and the ease of cleaning and disinfecting, it is in our best interest to remain with our current arrangement for worship.  This will be monitored and evaluated over the next couple of weeks, to ensure that when we move back into the sanctuary we are providing a safe, worshipful environment for all people.
  • Adult Sunday School will resume this Sunday, June 21st, at 9:30 am, with the following guidelines:
    • Doors will open at 9:20 am
    • The class will meet in the fellowship hall.
    • The chairs will remain in there present location for social distancing.
    • Please sit in the chair or section that you will sit in for worship.
    • Please bring your own bibles and supplies.
  • Children's Sunday school classes will NOT meet, yet.  The children's ministry team is working on plans to provide meaningful lessons in a safe environment for our children that come to worship.  The target date for resuming children's Sunday school classes is July 5th.
  • Revelation by FireWednesday evenings at 8 pm, Pastor Jeremy is leading a bible study on the Book of Revelation.
    •  The study is designed for 30 minutes with the following format: prayer, Scripture, discussion, Scripture, prayer.
    • The study is open to all people and families.  Children are welcome.
    • You can stay longer and talk afterwards as well.
    • Please bring your own bible to follow along and study what Jesus reveals!
Be encouraged!  Despite all that has happened, is happening, and what will happen, we can be assured that God is in control.  He is the same loving, merciful, gracious and holy God that he was in the beginning, is now and will be forever more!  So, together, let us center our hearts on what He is doing.  Pray and seek His face with a repentant heart.

See you Sunday!
Pastor Jeremy
