Staying focused on the most important thing.
It seems that no other time in history has been filled with so much division, uncertainty and even hatred. Every media outlet puts these issues front and center and with the development of the 24-news cycle and emergence of social media, it is almost impossible to escape it. However, if we do not have conversations how will anything get resolved. The division will only get worse.
The truth is this perception is not true. Human history is filled with times of division. Wars are fought over disagreements, territory, faith, power and greed. Institutions have been destroyed, governments toppled and religions fractured. Christianity itself has managed to break itself 3 two major times and countless minor times (which were all major). However, one things that stands true is that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, conquered death and rose again in victory!
While it is painful and unpleasant to go through disagreements, we should be encouraged. The truth God reveals through Scripture points us to two facts: We all are sinners and need a savior and God sent his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins so we might live. By God's grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, we are saved. The pain of this world is temporary, heaven is eternal.
Keep your hearts and minds on Jesus. He will get you through any circumstance.
