"I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his suffering, becoming like him in his death."  Phil 3:10.

In the previous verses, Paul explains that everything that he had gained in the world he considered a loss when compared to the to the worth (value) of knowing Jesus Christ.  Paul was a man of success.  He had title and position in the community and the church.  He was a hard charger and judged to be right by the law, but an encounter with Jesus changed all of that.  Paul teaches that knowing Jesus his his primary goal.

Paul is remembered for his faithful dedication for bringing God's kingdom here on earth.  He surrendered to Jesus all of his fleshly desires and worldly ambitions, so that he could serve God.  Even in the face of extreme adversity, Paul's trust in God was like a rock.  His ministry led him all over the map, in front of leaders as well as peasants, yet the message of salvation through Jesus Christ never changed.

I think so many people are living life in the status quo.  We fail to see past our circumstances to the life that God has calling us toward.  Jesus taught us how to pray, by focusing on "Thy kingdom come".  He calls us to seek God's kingdom and then work to establish that kingdom here on earth.  You may not be called like Paul to travel, preach and teach the gospel, but do live, work and fellowship in a community in which you can reflect the light of Christ.  So, how will you establish God's kingdom today?

Through the love, power and grace of Jesus Christ.

Go Forth,
Pastor Jeremy
