One survey conducted in November of 2017, asked the question "What are your New Year's Resolutions?".  With over 1,000 people surveyed, 53% of the people said they wanted to save money and 45% said they wanted to lose weight during the next year.  For many of us this certainly does not come as a big surprise.  Managing money and personal health are always close to the top on these lists and for good reason.  The problem is too many people set these goals but are never able to fulfill them.  Several factors can explain the lack of success but one of the biggest ones is the failure to establish a program.

This week in our sermon series theme of rehab, the focus moves to the program.  For our two examples above, the only way to achieve success is to create a program and follow it through to the end goal.  We call them resolutions, but we are really talking about rehab.  We want to change the way we are doing things.  The only way to do that is to establish a program.  A program provides the path to success and helps keep us on track to accomplish the goal.

As Christians, we recognize our fallen nature and need for salvation. We have come to understand that our goal is heaven.  God has given us a program to follow in the form of Scripture.  Jesus came to us to point us in the right direction and through the Holy Spirit provided us a sponsor to guide and encourage us through the program.

God knows it will nott always be easy.  However, we can take great comfort in Jesus words in Matthew 18: 14, "In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones perish."

Today is a good day to recommit to God's program.

Blessings and Love,
Pastor Jeremy
