March 27, 2018 Holy Week

Tonight we were here at Herbst UMC for our Holy Week worship service.  More than 90 people from 8 different congregations came together in worship and praise of God.  The message was brought to us by Pastor Jason Smith of Open Door Friends.  The music was led by Robin McIntyre.  It was a wonderful and powerful night of worship.  The Scripture focused on the encounter between the Pharisees and Jesus.  Here we see the attempts of the Pharisees to protect their turf by questioning Him to find a flaw or mistake.

Jesus took them to task and with authority condemned the leaders for failing to live up to God's standards, not following the will of God and failing to lead the people properly.  The challenge to each of us is to live a righteous life in Jesus Christ to be a visible witness to the world.  As Jesus describe the Pharisees as being 'bleached tombs'; all pretty on the outside but rotten and dirty on the inside, we give thanks to Jesus for His sacrifice for our sins.  With Jesus we are made clean.

 Looking nice for others...

while struggling with the ugliness of our sin.

Come join us tomorrow night at Converse UMC, as Pastor John Key brings the message.

The challenge made tonight is to pray for God to reveal someone to you that needs to hear God's Word.  Invite someone to come along with you so they can be introduced to the amazing, transformative power of Jesus Christ.  Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Pastor Jeremy
