Rehab:  Intervention
https://youtu.be/GuWphkxmWdg

Intervention can be a scary word to hear.  It can be intimidating.  It can be confusing.  However, Jesus came into this world with a clear message:

"Repent for the kingdom of heaven has come near,"  Matthew 4: 17

The Gospel is the story of Jesus intervening into the world with the goal of setting the people on the correct path.  He knew that the world had lost its way.  Sin had taken hold of the world and people were blinded by their own understandings.  Despite the broken, sinful, adulterous and evil nature of the world and its people, God saw what was needed.  Jesus knew what was needed.  The world needed a savior to intervene.

In the modern world we think of super heroes and in Jesus day the Jews were imagining a conqueror.  God's plans are greater than our own.  Jesus came and died for our sins so that we could have eternal life with the Father in Heaven.  He conquered.  Just not what they expected.   He conquered death!

During this time of Lent, as you focus on your repentance and prepare yourself for the coming of the Lord, do not forget that you have a purpose.  We are to be a light into a dark world.  Christ is counting on you to intervene on his behalf in the lives of those around you.  We are called to share the Gospel.  The Good News of Jesus Christ.  Share your story of hope in Jesus Christ with someone.  It may just save their life.

In Christ's love,
Pastor Jeremy
